Lain Iwakura works at the intersections of philosophy and sonic-thinking. They are DJing, producing Sound Art, doing social compositions or writing on a diverse set of topics. They run the labels Force Inc. & mille plateaux with Achim Szepanski and are writing for NON.

For Schallfront 2022, Lain Iwakura will be presenting „non-standard-sequencing“, an improvised performance utilizing unusual sequencers to produce poly-tick-al rhythms against the clock. The question is: „(How) Can we use measured clock-time and sequenced rhythms against its own means?"

Besides the performance they will talk about the entanglement of social time & time-based media. Formulating a critique of everyday concepts of time and its rootedness in the development of capitalism, while proposing to rethink it as intraactive, non-linear poly-temporalities of (social) movements.
